What is ParentsNext?
ParentsNext is a fully funded program that helps parents and carers of young children to prepare for employment by the time their children go to school. The program welcomes voluntary participants as well as those who are referred. If you care for young children and would like support to reach your education and employment goals, then ParentsNext is for you.

As ParentsNext program providers, CHESS Connect is focused on providing opportunity to families by strengthening connectedness in a safe, educational and child friendly environment.
Our Mentors support you to connect with community and build the confidence and skills needed to take the next steps towards a rewarding future.
The ParentsNext Program offers tailored individual support to parents, with funding to assist in achieving your goals. Examples of financial assistance include:
- Driving lessons and other other associated travel and licence costs
- Required items for study including communication equipment, textbooks etc.
- Course and training enrolment fees
- Personal items and crisis accommodation for times of hardship
- Assistance for out of pocket medical expenses
- Clothing and footwear for job interview, work, course or training
Am I eligible?
If you are in receipt of a Parenting Payment from Centrelink and have a child under 6, you are eligible for the ParentsNext Program. Contact us for further information on eligibility and assistance registering for the program.

Your ParentsNext mentor can connect you to activities within your community that will support your family, education and employment goals
Connect to Support
ParentsNext Mentors can connect parents and carers to local support services such as counselling, financial advice, domestic and family, physical and mental health and secure housing supports.
If you are ready to work, your Mentor can help you find a job and support you with wage subsidies or other assistance *eligibility criteria applies
All ParentsNext guidance and assistance can be delivered in a safe, comfortable and child-friendly environment. Your participation in the program is guided by the unique needs and goals of you and your family.
